On Demand Instances

  • As an alternative to on demand meetings, you can purchase exclusive use of a BigBlueButton Instance.
  • Instances are charged per hour running - depending on the size of the machine.

  • Disk storage is persistent and using the API you can shutdown and later restart the instance without losing data.
  • Instances which are 'stopped' are charged a standard rate of $0.05 per hour irrespective of the size of the machine.
  • Substantial savings are possible by running your instances only during working hours.
  • When an instance is 'deleted', there is no further charge but any data is lost.

On Demand Meetings

  • Charges depend on the resources required to host the meeting.
  • Meetings become more expensive as the maxParticipants setting increases.
  • Settings which allow recordings and all users to use video and voice cost more.
  • Disabling recording, webcams or limiting webcams only to moderators reduces the price.
  • Use the Price Calculator to check the actual charge for a particular meeting.

  • The minimum charge for any meeting is $0.30 per hour - with a minimum charge $0.10 for any meeting started, however short.

Managed Recordings and storage

  • Managed Recordings are processed on dedicated machines and incur a charge for the time it takes to encode the recording.
  • How long this takes depends on the length and content of the recording along with the optional encoding setting: 'Fast' will be cheapest, 'Best' will be most expensive.
  • 'Fast' encoding will typically complete in 20% of the time that the meeting ran for.
  • 'Best' encoding will typically complete in about the same length of time that the meeting was running for.
